Pidgin steals focus from the user
March 11, 2008 – 1:05 pmThe last thing I want when I’m typing something is for a person who just IM’d me to get the last piece of what I’m writing. Most of the time it will be some hodge podge of code or command line. Every once in awhile it will be a password.
Why do developers write programs that steal focus by default? Does this seem like a reasonable thing?
The only way I’ve seen to turn this off in Pidgin is to goto “Preferences”, then select from “Hide new IM conversations” the value of “Always”.
How can a sensible default be “slap you across your face”?
